'Home Shopping Industry Competitiveness Enhancement TF'
Final Plan to Be Prepared by Second Half of This Year
The Ministry of Science and ICT has formed a task force (TF) team for the first time to enhance the competitiveness of the home shopping industry. They plan to establish measures to strengthen the competitiveness of the home shopping industry by the end of this year.
On the 11th, the Ministry of Science and ICT held the first meeting of the 'Home Shopping Industry Competitiveness Enhancement TF.'
An official from the Ministry stated, "The home shopping industry has experienced stagnation in growth due to the rapid expansion of domestic and international e-commerce companies and drastic changes in the media environment, raising concerns across the paid broadcasting ecosystem. Therefore, we formed a dedicated task force (TF)."
The TF is led by Choi Jun-ho, Director of Broadcasting Promotion Policy, and is composed of experts in broadcasting, law, economics, management, and accounting. They will discuss improvement measures regarding the data home shopping system, home shopping re-approval conditions, and win-win cooperation plans between paid broadcasters and home shopping companies.
During the meeting, TF members expressed their opinions on the current status and issues of the home shopping market and discussed various measures across the entire home shopping system to revitalize the industry and enhance competitiveness.
The TF will diagnose future environmental changes and problems from the perspective of policy consumers and, based on this, establish the 'Home Shopping Industry Competitiveness Enhancement Plan.' After gathering opinions from stakeholders, the final plan will be prepared by the second half of this year.
