Changwon Special Mayor Hong Nam-pyo: "We Will Strengthen Communication and Collaboration with Local Nonghyup"
"To prepare for the next 50 years and advance agriculture and rural communities in Changwon, we will strengthen communication with local agricultural cooperatives representing the agricultural field and reinforce our collaborative system."
Hong Nam-pyo, Mayor of Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam, made this statement on the 7th during a meeting held at a local restaurant to share information on achievements and current issues in the agriculture and livestock sectors and to strengthen the organic collaboration system with local agricultural cooperatives.
The meeting was attended by Mayor Hong Nam-pyo, the head of the NH Nonghyup Gyeongnam Regional Headquarters, the head of the Changwon branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and the heads of 14 local cooperatives in the area.
Participants freely exchanged opinions on current agricultural issues such as population aging and labor shortages, discussed the difficulties faced by the sector, and explored the future direction of agriculture and rural communities, broadening mutual understanding.
The local agricultural cooperatives, representing frontline farmers, proposed and shared key issues necessary for local agricultural policy, including expanding municipal subsidies for agricultural machinery, promoting public seasonal labor programs, and improving support projects for foot-and-mouth disease vaccination for livestock farmers.
The city plans to actively accept these suggestions, such as improving the support rate for agricultural machinery, and to introduce policies necessary for agriculture and rural communities, working together with the cooperatives to address pressing challenges.
Mayor Hong stated, "We will listen closely to the difficulties faced in the field and create an inclusive agricultural and rural community where no one is left behind, through the implementation of policies in cooperation between the public and private sectors."
