Uljugun Begins Full-Scale Discussions on Yeongnam Alps Cable Car Development Project
Draft Environmental Impact Assessment Submitted to Nakdonggang River Basin Environmental Office
Construction to Begin in January Next Year, Completion Planned for June 2026
Ulsan's Ulju County will begin full-scale consultations regarding the Yeongnam Alps cable car development project, which is being promoted as a key initiative to revitalize mountain tourism.
According to Ulju County, Yeongnam Alps Cable Car, the operator of the Yeongnam Alps cable car development project, submitted a draft environmental impact assessment to the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office on the 5th for consultation on the environmental impact assessment.
The draft environmental impact assessment is a preliminary administrative procedure before the main consultation on the environmental impact assessment for the cable car project. After collecting and reviewing opinions from relevant agencies such as the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office and local residents, the main environmental impact assessment report is scheduled to be submitted to the Nakdong River Basin Environmental Office in August.
In this draft, the locations of the upper and lower stations were adjusted based on site conditions and survey results, reducing the total length from 2.48 km to 2.46 km. The plan is to operate 50 cabins (with 10 additional backup cabins) as originally intended.
The draft environmental impact assessment can be viewed from the 7th until the 5th of next month at the Ulju County Tourism Division, Ulju County Sangbuk-myeon and Samnam-eup Administrative Welfare Centers, Yangsan City Wondong-myeon and Habuk-myeon Administrative Welfare Centers, and the Environmental Impact Assessment Information Support System. The summary and public notice of the draft can be found on the Ulju County website.
Opinions on the draft environmental impact assessment can be submitted in writing using the resident opinion form provided at the viewing locations. A resident briefing session on the draft will be held at 4:00 p.m. on the 21st in the main conference room on the 3rd floor of the Sangbuk-myeon Administrative Welfare Center in Ulju County.
