Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator Signs MOU with Four Universities to Support Local SMEs
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency has signed a business agreement with four universities in the province to resolve difficulties faced by small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region.
On the 5th, the agency announced that on the 4th it signed a business agreement with four universities?Catholic University, Kangnam University, Ajou University, and Yongin University of Arts and Sciences?to address the challenges faced by SMEs in Gyeonggi-do.
According to the agreement, the agency and the four universities will support local SMEs through consulting teams composed of retired baby boomer professional consultants and young university students.
The agency will identify companies struggling in five areas: management, investment, research and development (R&D), marketing, and export, and match them with retired baby boomer professional consultants. Each university will form student teams suitable for the respective tasks to handle idea generation and preliminary research.
The agency expects that the generational convergence support system, combining the professional consulting of retired baby boomer consultants and the creative ideas of young university students, will resolve corporate difficulties and create synergy.
In particular, participating students will be given opportunities to collaborate with experts in the corporate field, along with various supports necessary for employment and startup activities.
The participating universities will provide related curricular and extracurricular programs, offering various benefits such as academic credits and scholarships to the participating students.

Kim Gil-a, Head of the Corporate Growth Division at the agency, stated, "By combining the rich experience of the baby boomer generation with the new ideas of the younger generation through a generational convergence support system, we believe it will be a great force for SME growth. We will solve corporate concerns and create new growth opportunities through communication and cooperation between generations."
