This event was organized by Yeongdeok County, which is accelerating the development of wellness tourism destinations using nature and culture as resources, to listen to diverse grassroots opinions and reflect them in county administration.
Mayor Kim and the group members conducted plogging, which is jogging while picking up trash, starting from Gwaesi Village, a National Folk Cultural Heritage site, and continuing to the peak of Sangdaesan. Mayor Kim also walked barefoot along the yellow soil path, freely inspecting the Gwaneodae course and sharing opinions with participants.
During the main event held at the Gwaneodae pavilion, opinions were exchanged on 'Revitalizing Yeongdeok Tourism.' Mayor Kim and the group members agreed on diversifying tourism content beyond Yeongdeok Snow Crab, discussed creating themed roads for each Blue Road section, and shared various ideas about developing Sangdaesan Gwaneodae as a wellness tourism hotspot in connection with Blue Road.
During this process, the 'Gaja Blue Road' members presented concrete ideas gained through Blue Road monitoring activities, such as installing QR codes to check current locations via smartphones along the Blue Road course, providing bicycle rentals for each section, improving transportation options, and supporting Blue Road tour guides.
In response, Mayor Kim Kwangyeol said, "We are establishing and promoting a plan to increase public transportation schedules along the Blue Road course," and added, "We will actively review and try to incorporate the valuable ideas you have gained through firsthand experience together with our staff."
Mayor Kim also stated, "Yeongdeok County boasts a natural environment optimized for wellness tourism, including Gwaneodae on Sangdaesan, where you can view all five scenic spots at once, and the best coastal trekking course, Blue Road. We will build tourism infrastructure to fully enjoy these assets and develop various tourism contents that match current trends, aiming to become the leading wellness tourism destination in Korea."
