Korean Air Inducted into the Air Transport World Hall of Fame
Korean Air has been inducted into the Aviation Industry Hall of Fame, organized by Air Transport World.
Korean Air announced that on the 31st of last month (local time), Cho Won-tae, Chairman of Hanjin Group, attended the Air Transport World Aviation Industry Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony held at the Hilton Dubai Al Habtoor City in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Air Transport World (hereafter ATW), a global aviation media outlet, has been selecting the best airlines and individuals in each field annually through a rigorous evaluation process for 50 years since 1974. This year, the selections were also made by a global judging panel composed of editors and analysts affiliated with ATW.
In particular, ATW established the "Hall of Fame" this year to mark its 50th anniversary. Six airlines, including Korean Air, Delta Air Lines, and Emirates, recognized for their contributions to the global aviation industry, along with two aviation organizations such as Airlink and Pittsburgh International Airport, and former Etihad Airways CEO James Hogan, were inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Karen Walker, Editor-in-Chief of ATW, stated, "Under the leadership of Chairman Cho Won-tae, Korean Air has set the standard for air transportation worldwide beyond Asia. Despite the unprecedented crisis in the aviation industry caused by COVID-19, Korean Air overcame it with excellent strategies and has won key ATW awards every year since 2021, making it deserving of induction into the Hall of Fame."
With this, Korean Air has received awards from ATW for four consecutive years, including the 2021 Airline of the Year Award, the 2022 Air Cargo Airline of the Year Award, and the 2023 Aviation Industry Leadership Award for Chairman Cho Won-tae of Hanjin Group.
