New Route from Pyeongtaek Port to Manila and Ho Chi Minh Opens on the 31st
A new Southeast Asia route connecting Pyeongtaek Port in Gyeonggi, Manila in the Philippines, and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam was launched on the 31st.
The Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Port Authority announced that the newly established KPX (Korea Philippines Express) service will be jointly operated once a week by Korea Marine Transport, Namseong Shipping, and Dongyoung Shipping.
The main ports of call are Incheon-Pyeongtaek-Gwangyang-Busan-Manila-Ho Chi Minh-Hong Kong-Shekou-Incheon. The vessel deployed for the inaugural voyage is the 'KMTC KEELUNG,' which arrived on the morning of the 31st.
The Pyeongtaek Port Authority expects this new route to generate an annual container volume of 30,000 TEUs. It is anticipated to significantly contribute to regional economic revitalization, including job creation at Pyeongtaek Port.
Kim Seok-gu, President of the Pyeongtaek Port Authority, stated, "We are very pleased to have laid the foundation for increased cargo volume through consecutive route openings following the recent Vietnam port sales." He emphasized, "To stabilize the Southeast Asia route early, we will provide incentives for new route openings and continue to promote port sales for Pyeongtaek Port."
