Homeplus Sees 60% Surge in Ready-to-Eat Restaurant Meal Sales
Recreating Popular Dishes from Famous Restaurants
Wide Range of Discount Benefits Boost Popularity
As dining-out prices soar to unprecedented levels, Homeplus's restaurant meal replacements (RMR) are gaining popularity. RMRs are convenient meals that allow you to easily enjoy restaurant chef menus at home. Known as "chef substitutes," they help you enjoy a high-quality meal even at home.
Homeplus is selling over 120 RMR products in collaboration with famous restaurants through its specialized store "Dining Street," which features around 1,000 meal kits and refrigerated/frozen ready meals. In the first quarter of this year (January to March), sales of frozen and refrigerated RMRs increased by 59% and 15%, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
“Chaesundang Shabu-Shabu,” launched in February last year, saw sales grow by about 21% year-on-year as of March this year, becoming one of Homeplus’s popular RMRs. It faithfully reproduces the taste of dining at Chaesundang, using fresh vegetables and beef brisket to enhance umami flavor. “Hakoya Whole Cheese Pork Cutlet,” a renowned pork cutlet brand that debuted in May last year, surpassed 260,000 cumulative sales as of the 30th of last month.
Other popular products include “Ashley Original Whole Chicken,” which allows you to easily enjoy Ashley store’s signature original whole chicken at home, and “Tudari Kimchi Fish Cake Hot Pot,” which lets you enjoy two of Tudari’s representative dishes at once.
