Gangdong-gu Holds 'No Dam' Campaign on World No Tobacco Day
May 31, 37th World No Tobacco Day Street March Campaign... Raising Awareness of Smoking Risks
Seoul City Companion Dog Patrol Also Participates to Increase Resident Interest
Gangdong-gu (District Mayor Lee Suhee) announced that on May 31, in observance of the 37th World No Tobacco Day, it will conduct a street march campaign together with residents.
The district holds a smoking cessation campaign every year to commemorate World No Tobacco Day, aiming to raise awareness of the importance of quitting smoking and to foster a social atmosphere that supports a healthy life.
This year's campaign will take place on the 31st at 1 PM, starting from Gangdong Station and marching about 1 km to Cheonho Station, divided into two directions. This area is known for frequent complaints about secondhand smoke. Participants will carry various placards and banners encouraging smoking cessation and distribute smoking cessation leaflets to residents along the streets to raise awareness about the importance of quitting smoking and the dangers of smoking.
Also, following last year, the cute and reliable "Seoul City Companion Dog Patrol" will participate in the campaign again this year to further increase residents' interest.
In addition, the district is leading smoking prevention education for youth through the outreach program "Cheonggeummang (Youth Smoking Cessation is Everyone's Smoking Cessation!)," dispatching professional smoking cessation instructors to elementary, middle, and high schools in the area to educate students about the risks of using e-cigarettes and their health impacts.
