Israeli Military Tanks Enter Raffa Downtown... Attack Continues Despite International Opposition
Foreign Media Reports Citing Witnesses
Reports have emerged that Israeli military tanks have entered the southernmost city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip, Palestine.
According to major foreign media on the 28th (local time), multiple Israeli military tanks entered the center of Rafah. Witnesses reported seeing Israeli tanks near the Al-Awda Mosque, a landmark in the center of Rafah.
Footage filmed by Al Jazeera and posted on social media also showed Israeli tanks advancing into Rafah.
The Israeli military did not respond to requests for confirmation but stated that it would make a related announcement later.
Some view this as Israel carrying out a full-scale ground offensive despite strong opposition from the international community. Israel claims that Hamas leadership and remnants are believed to be in Rafah, and that attacking Rafah is necessary to achieve its war objectives.

Israeli military pressure is intensifying. After issuing an evacuation order and conducting airstrikes in the eastern Rafah area on the 6th, Israel took control of major roads and border checkpoints. Two days after the International Court of Justice (ICJ), the UN's highest judicial body, issued an urgent order to halt attacks on Rafah, Israeli forces bombed the Tal al-Sultan refugee camp in western Rafah on the 26th.
