Gyeonggi-do to Prevent Whistleblowers' Phone Numbers from Being Exposed... 'Anyone Safe Report' Starting in June
Gyeonggi Province will launch the nation's first Public Interest Whistleblowing Safe Phone Number Service (Anyone Safe Reporting) starting in June.
Anyone Safe Reporting is a service that assigns a virtual safe phone number to whistleblowers to prevent the exposure of their actual phone numbers, allowing them to cooperate with investigations securely during the public interest whistleblowing process. Gyeonggi Province will conduct a trial service throughout May and begin full operation in June. This is the first case in Korea to introduce a virtual phone number service for public interest whistleblowing.
With the introduction of this service, when a report is made to the Gyeonggi Province Public Interest Whistleblowing Hotline, the whistleblower's actual phone number will be linked to a virtual phone number, and all subsequent procedures will be conducted through the virtual number only. If investigators need to verify facts or obtain additional testimony through the whistleblower during the handling of the public interest report, they will contact the whistleblower via the safe number.
