Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced that CEO Bok Young-ok of Mesa Kosa Co., Ltd., an aromatherapy expert, has signed an export contract worth $50,000 with the Hungarian cosmetics retailer ‘PLANET DESIGN BT’ following an export contract to Italy in April this year for three types of organic Maehwasu cosmetics developed by her.
The export contract ceremony held on the 22nd at Mesa Kosa Co., Ltd. in Gwangyang was attended by CEO Bok Young-ok of Mesa Kosa, Dorottya Kiss, CEO of ‘PLANET DESIGN BT,’ and Lee Hwa-yeop, director of the Gwangyang Agricultural Technology Center, who celebrated the occasion.
CEO Bok Young-ok of Mesa Kosa said, “We met the Hungarian contracting company last October through a KOTRA event, and through continuous customer management and excellent product quality, we were able to conclude the export contract,” adding, “As part of supporting product promotion marketing, we agreed to maintain exclusive rights in Hungary for one year.”
Dorottya Kiss, CEO of ‘PLANET DESIGN BT,’ said, “I have been very interested in Korean cosmetics and was looking for import brands. After meeting CEO Bok Young-ok at an exhibition, I came to the local market with confidence in the products,” and added, “We will strive to establish mutual trust and help Mesa Kosa cosmetics settle in the European market.”
‘Salveo,’ developed and exported by Mesa Kosa Co., Ltd., is a holistic beauty skincare cosmetics brand. The three exported products?Maehwasu toner, Maehwasu serum, and Maehwasu cream?are made using ingredients extracted from organic Maehwa (Japanese apricot) cultivated in Gwangyang.
These cosmetics are 100% natural products certified by COSMOS Organic, Vegan, Clean Beauty, European Cosmetics, British Cosmetics, and EuAsia certifications, verifying the quality of the products through various certifications.
Product developer CEO Bok Young-ok is a leading expert in the field of aromatherapy and earned a Ph.D. in Korean medicine through research on “Antioxidant, skin whitening, and anti-aging properties of Maehwa bud extract.”
Lee Hwa-yeop, director of the Agricultural Technology Center, said, “We pay tribute to CEO Bok, who has taken the lead in product production and export development, enabling commercialization using Maehwasu and concluding export contracts,” and added, “We will continue to prepare various support measures such as expanding sales channels for the settlement and success of returning farmers.”
Meanwhile, CEO Bok Young-ok returned to farming in Hajomaeul, Bonggang-myeon in 2014 and, through continuous research and development for rural resource income generation, succeeded in commercializing Maehwasu cosmetics in 2019 with support from Gwangyang City’s rural convergence industry commercialization project.

To commercialize cosmetics using local agricultural products, she has developed over 100 products, including skincare products that easily utilize various medicinal herbs in daily life, as well as essential oils and plant-based oils, and manufactures and sells them with COSMOS Organic certification.
