[One Day 10,000 Steps, One Day 1,000 Characters] ‘Animal Run’ Running for Endangered Animals
There is an event where you can save animals in danger by walking or running.
RunningPoint, a marathon platform service provider, is holding a non-face-to-face marathon event called "Animal Run" from the 11th to the 31st to protect endangered animals.
Animal Run selects an endangered animal each month, and the participation fees collected from participants are donated to the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). In May, the marathon is held to protect sloths, whose habitats have been destroyed by indiscriminate deforestation, making survival difficult.
Participants can run either 5 km, which corresponds to the average body length of a sloth (50?60 cm), or 10 km, which corresponds to the average lifespan of a sloth (10?32 years). The marathon is conducted non-face-to-face, and participants verify their distance using an application that can certify the distance run.
Participants who complete the run receive a completion certificate and are awarded commemorative medals, stickers, and badges. Registration for the May Animal Run began on April 1st and was closed early after reaching 4,000 participants. In June, the marathon will focus on land turtles.
RunningPoint also runs a project called "DaengDaengi Race," which is a run for abandoned animals. This is a non-face-to-face marathon held monthly with different animal themes, and 10% of the participation fees are donated to abandoned dogs. Participants receive completion certificates and themed souvenirs that change every month, similar to Animal Run.
The May DaengDaengi Race is held as the "Spitz Run." The certified distances are 4.5 km or 12 km, which correspond to the average weight and average lifespan of the Spitz, respectively. The event period is from the 11th to the 31st, with a participant limit of 500. In June, a "Cat Run" is planned.
