Muan-gun Holds Final Report Meeting for Comprehensive Tourism Development Plan Establishment Project

Presentation of Core Projects by Region for Establishing a Global Luxury Ecological and Healing Tourism City

Muan-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Kim San) announced on the 22nd that it held the final report meeting for the ‘Muan-gun Comprehensive Tourism Development Plan Establishment Service’ on the 21st at the county office situation room, attended by about 30 senior officials including Governor Kim San.

Reflecting the changed SOC conditions in Muan-gun and linking with higher-level tourism development plans and major priority projects, the service started last June and has been progressing through resident surveys, field inspections, and department head report meetings to establish an effective tourism development strategy.

The service was conducted by Korea Regional Policy Institute Co., Ltd. (Chief Researcher Choi Hak-su), which proposed tourism revitalization projects focusing on building a marine complex leisure tourism city by specializing in the marine resources of Muan-gun under the vision of ‘Creating a Global Premium Ecological and Healing City.’

In particular, Muan-gun was divided into four core zones: △ the gathering zone centered on Muan International Airport and the KTX station zone △ the northern zone centered on Muan Hwangto Mudflat Land, Doripo, and Unnam-myeon △ the southern zone centered on Hoesan Baekryeonji, the Yeongsan Riverbank, and Cheonggye Bokgilli △ the urban tourism zone centered on Namak New Town and the birthplace of Choi Eo-seon, presenting 90 detailed tourism revitalization strategies across 26 projects in 5 fields.

The county expects that this service will enable balanced tourism development between urban and rural areas and strengthen connectivity with existing tourism development projects. Going forward, detailed execution plans will be established by each department to actively promote Muan-gun’s tourism revitalization policies.

Governor Kim San urged, “Please carefully review the projects presented in the service, set a concrete roadmap, and execute it with the best efforts so that Muan can develop into a representative tourism city in the southwestern region.”
