View original imageDaejeon City announced that it will hold a general (competitive) bidding for the use permits of individual stores in the Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center as the management agreement and individual store usage period expire on July 5.
On the 22nd, the city plans to post the bidding announcement on Onbid for seven days and decide the usage permits for individual stores within the shopping center in accordance with the Public Property Act and related regulations.
Only Daejeon citizens (including corporations) with an address in Daejeon City are eligible to participate in the general (competitive) bidding for store usage permits.
The bidding items consist of a total of 440 individual stores based on their current operating status. The participant who offers the highest bid for the one-year usage fee of the respective store will win the bid and be granted a usage permit period of 10 years in total.
A city official stated, “The transition to a fair and transparent public property usage system is meaningful,” and added, “We will open opportunities for many citizens to participate in the bidding, not just existing merchants.”

Meanwhile, the Jungang-ro Underground Shopping Center Emergency Countermeasures Committee said, “The reason merchants have endured excessive management fees on their own for the past 30 years is because of the assurance of contract extensions allowing continued business,” and requested, “Please stop the competitive bidding and actively accept alternatives that allow mutual coexistence.”
