Selection and Support of General and Specialized Tracks
Seventeen universities have been selected for the government's Software (SW) Centered University Project.
The Ministry of Science and ICT announced the results of the SW Centered University Project selection on the 22nd. Since its inception in 2015, this project has produced a cumulative total of 48,969 SW major personnel and 34,287 convergence personnel as of last year.
This year, the Ministry of Science and ICT selected 17 universities (15 in the general track and 2 in the specialized track) and plans to provide 1 billion KRW to each general track university and 500 million KRW to each specialized track university.
The general track universities selected are Konyang University, Korea University (Sejong), Kongju National University, Dankook University, Pukyong National University, Sogang University, Sun Moon University, Sejong University, Soongsil University, Woosong University, University of Ulsan, Chosun University, Hallym University, Hansung University, and Hanyang University ERICA. The specialized track universities selected are Changwon National University and Hanshin University.
SW Centered Universities will receive support for up to eight years. They plan to operate projects tailored to each university's characteristics, including SW and AI education within the university, basic SW education support for elementary, middle, and high school students, development and sharing of high-quality online educational content, and industry-academia cooperation with local companies.

Song Sang-hoon, Director of the Information and Communication Policy Office at the Ministry of Science and ICT, stated, "We will actively support SW Centered Universities so that they can play an important role in nurturing talent and advancing technology in the era of AI becoming part of everyday life and in the fields of new SW and AI technologies."
