Sancheong-gun, Young Football Talents from Across the Country Engage in Friendly Competition
Sancheong Football Sports Club President's Cup
41 Teams Compete Nationwide
The '2024 Sancheong Football Sports Club President's Cup National Youth Football Tournament' will be held at Saengcho Sports Park Football Field in Sancheong-gun, Gyeongnam, from the 25th to the 26th.
This tournament, hosted and organized by the Sancheong Football Sports Club, which is designated by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, will feature a total of 41 teams from 21 clubs nationwide, including Sejong, Daejeon, and Ulsan, with participants from elementary school grades 2 to 6.
The tournament will be played in an 8-a-side format for grades 3 to 6, and a 5-a-side format for grade 2. After the preliminary league, rankings and the winning team will be determined through an upper and lower split system.
Sancheong-gun expects that about 1,500 people, including players, coaches, and parents, will visit Sancheong during the tournament.
In particular, it is expected that this tournament will serve as an opportunity to expand football-related competitions, which were previously concentrated in the winter season, into the summer season as well, thereby helping to maintain Sancheong's reputation as a football hub and revitalize the local economy.
A representative from the Sancheong Football Sports Club said, "We have prioritized inviting club teams that participated in the Sancheong-gun Mayor's Cup Youth Football Tournament, winter training camps, and friendly exchange matches. Although the budget is small, we have prepared the first tournament with our own funds without any county support," and added, "We will do our best to help the club become self-sustaining by hosting this tournament and also attracting the '2024 Sancheong-gun i-LEAGUE,' the largest domestic grassroots youth football league, which will be held from June to November."
