"Strengthening Drone Expertise and Promoting Technology Exchange"
30 Teams from Police, Firefighters, University and High School Students Compete
Ulsan City has organized a competition featuring technology that utilizes drones for surveying.
On the morning of the 22nd at 10 a.m., Ulsan City announced that it will hold the '2024 Spatial and Survey Information Drone Utilization Competition' at the Yeongnam Alps Complex Welcome Center and the Deungeok Alps Campground area to enhance drone expertise and facilitate the exchange of drone technology.
This competition aims to select outstanding teams to represent the city at the 'Public Sector Drone Piloting Competition' and the 'National Land Information Challenge Cadastral Drone Survey Competition,' both hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport.
The competition is divided into three categories: drone piloting, drone cadastral resurvey, and drone surveying.
In the drone piloting category, 13 teams consisting of police, firefighters, and students will participate. In the drone cadastral resurvey category, 7 teams made up of public officials, LX Korea Land and Geospatial Informatix Corporation, and local private cadastral surveying companies will compete. In the drone surveying category, 10 teams comprising high school and university students from Ulsan and nearby cities such as Busan, Gyeongnam, and Gyeongbuk will participate, making a total of 30 teams competing in the event.
For evaluation, the drone piloting category will be scored based on whether the drone maintains a consistent speed and safely flies the designated course without deviating from the route.
In the drone cadastral resurvey and drone surveying categories, teams will be evaluated on-site for their drone photography of survey control points, and the final survey results processed from the drone footage will be assessed to select the top teams.
Ulsan City plans to select five teams as the best overall: one team each from the drone piloting category (firefighting, police, student divisions), one team from the drone cadastral resurvey category, and one team from the drone surveying category. These teams will receive a commendation from the Mayor of Ulsan.
