Gyeonggi-do Operates Agricultural Waste Collection Period... Collects 5,860 Tons of Waste Vinyl and More
Gyeonggi Province announced on the 21st that it collected 5,860 tons of agricultural waste from February 20 to April 30.
The collected agricultural waste includes 5,524 tons of rural waste vinyl, 68 tons of pesticide containers, and 268 tons of others. A total of 2,654 people, including residents' autonomous associations, participated in the waste collection.
Gyeonggi Province operates a concentrated agricultural waste collection period twice a year, in the first and second halves, to protect the rural environment and create a sustainable agricultural environment through recycling rural waste.
In particular, through the collection reward system, for waste vinyl, 80 to 160 KRW per kilogram is paid depending on the impurity content, 100 KRW per bottle for pesticide containers, and 80 KRW per bag for bag-type containers.
The collected waste vinyl and pesticide containers are transported from village joint collection centers to the Korea Environment Corporation collection offices. The waste vinyl is crushed, washed, and compressed to be recycled as raw materials, while pesticide containers are either recycled or incinerated.
Additionally, village residents' autonomous associations actively participated in waste collection by promoting disposal methods according to waste types and designating concentrated collection days for each village.
