President Yoon Suk-yeol held a phone call on the 20th with Lawrence Wong, the newly appointed Prime Minister of Singapore, and agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI) and digital technology.
During the call, President Yoon congratulated Prime Minister Wong, who took office on the 15th, and said, "With the 50th anniversary of Korea-Singapore diplomatic relations approaching next year, let us continue to strengthen bilateral relations through close cooperation."
He added, "As Singapore is a key partner in the Korea-ASEAN solidarity initiative, let us enhance strategic cooperation in the fields of digital technology, AI, and infrastructure," and "I look forward to meeting Prime Minister Wong at the AI Seoul Summit, which will be held virtually tomorrow evening."
Prime Minister Wong expressed his gratitude for President Yoon's congratulations and replied, "We consider Korea an important partner for Singapore," adding, "Let us work together to further advance bilateral relations in various areas such as politics, economy, and culture."
