Kim Inchang, Chief of Seohae Coast Guard, Inspects Yeosu Waters and Substation Site
Air Patrol Visits Dolsan and Geomun Police Stations for Marine Accident Prevention Inspection
The Seohae Regional Coast Guard Agency (Chief Kim Inchang) conducted an on-site security inspection of the maritime area and frontline police stations in the Seohae region on the 18th to establish a prompt rescue readiness system in preparation for marine accidents caused by numerous spring tourists and multi-use vessels.
According to the Seohae Agency on the 20th, Chief Kim inspected the status of multi-use vessel routes and fishing boat operations through an aerial patrol over the Yeosu waters by helicopter that day.
Meanwhile, he visited the Geomun and Dolsan police stations, where security demand is high, to check rescue equipment and emergency response readiness, urging on-site personnel to actively prevent accidents and conduct swift rescues.
Yeosu, one of the maritime jurisdictions under the Seohae Regional Coast Guard Agency, covers an area of 7,950 km², with 7,322 fishing vessels, 431 multi-use vessels, and a total of 326 ports and harbors, resulting in high security demand that requires special safety management and continuous preventive activities.
In particular, the Geomun police station is located on a coastal adjacent island with a high volume of vessel traffic (an average of 400 vessels per day) within its jurisdiction. To ensure rapid response in case of accidents in the surrounding inland and offshore waters, it is scheduled to be designated as a new rescue base police station next year along with the Dolsan police station.
