Humasis is acquiring Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical. The plan is to increase business synergy by acquiring the shares and management rights of Blade Entertainment, the largest shareholder of Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical.
Humasis announced on the 17th that it has signed a contract to acquire Blade Ent's shares and management rights. Blade Ent is the largest shareholder holding 19.84% of Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical's shares. Humasis is acquiring 34.8% of Blade Ent's shares for 48 billion KRW.
Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical, famous for ‘Lemona,’ has its own pharmaceutical production facilities and has established a distribution network of over 22,000 pharmacies nationwide. It is expanding its reach to convenience stores, large supermarkets, and H&B stores. A company official stated, “We plan to utilize not only the distribution network that Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical has built over many years but also its pharmaceutical and health functional food business capabilities,” and added, “We will cooperate so that our diagnostic kits and other businesses can create synergy with Gyeongnam Pharmaceutical’s pharmaceutical and bio businesses.”
With the acquisition of Blade Ent, collaboration in content production with its affiliate Fantagio is also anticipated. Fantagio has been producing dramas and presenting various works since 2021. Blade Ent represents many artists including actors Heo Sung-tae, Han Chae-young, and Go Chang-seok. The two companies plan to share management know-how and cooperate in various ways in the future, such as utilizing artists in content production, the company explained.
