Temporary Detour Speed Limit on Nambu-daero, Cheonan-si
Speed Limit Set to 30km/h Until May 2025
Cheonan City in Chungnam announced on the 17th that it will open a temporary detour road on Nambu-daero and adjust the speed limit.
According to the city, from the 21st until May 1, 2025, a temporary detour road will be opened on the existing Nambu-daero for the construction of a connecting road between Nambu-daero and Yonggok Hanra Apartments, and the traffic speed will be restricted.
The construction of the connecting road between Nambu-daero and Yonggok Hanra Apartments is a project aimed at connecting the road from Yonggok Segwang 2nd Apartments to Yonggok Hanra Apartments. A bridge will be installed on a 31m section of National Road No. 21 on Nambu-daero, and a 460m long six-lane road will be constructed under the bridge. Through this, a fully three-dimensional interchange will be installed to alleviate traffic volume caused by the nearby Cheonan Yonggok Nundeul district urban development.
The temporary detour section is about 500m from Yonggokgyo to Nambu Overpass. Since the road alignment changes from a straight line to a curve, the speed limit will be reduced from the existing 50 km/h to 30 km/h considering the risk of accidents.
The temporary detour road will be restored to the original road route after the completion of the new bridge on Nambu-daero.

A city official stated, “To minimize the risk of accidents during construction, safety facilities such as detour guide signs and speed limit signs will be installed,” and added, “Since there is concern about accidents if traffic users do not reduce their speed, we ask for cooperation in adhering to the traffic speed limits despite some inconvenience.”
