Busan Office of Education Promotes Reading Change Linked to 'Dokseoro'
Various Events for the 'Summer Vacation Bookcance Reading Quiz Event'
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo) announced on the 17th that it will promote various initiatives to activate the "Reading Change" program in connection with its new platform, "Dokseoro."
"Dokseoro" is a reading platform that integrates and advances the "Comprehensive Reading Education Support System," which was previously operated separately by each city and provincial office of education. It is jointly operated by the Ministry of Education, 17 city and provincial offices of education, and the Korea Education and Research Information Service.
Moving beyond text-based post-reading activities, the platform supports multimedia-based reading activities such as photos and videos, and also offers personalized services such as book recommendations based on big data.
The city office of education has organized a variety of reading experience events to promote the activation of "Reading Change," which is being emphasized as a key part of character education, in connection with this platform.
Starting in July, diverse programs will be offered to inspire students' motivation to read, including the "Summer Vacation Book-cation Reading Quiz Event," "Reading Marathon," and "One Book One Busan Transcribing the Book of the Year."
In addition, the city office of education is supporting the transfer of students' post-reading activity records registered in the existing "Busan Comprehensive Reading Education Support System" to "Dokseoro." In February, training was completed for school library staff on how to use the new system, and in April, unit-specific manuals were produced and distributed.
