Busan Office of Education Develops 'Reading on the Road' Program Reflecting Local Characteristics
Reading Theme Newsletter Featuring Humanities and Science Content from Busan Region
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Ha Yoonsoo) announced on the 17th that it has developed and will distribute a themed reading newsletter, "Reading on the Road," which brings together humanities, natural sciences, and environmental content from the Busan region in one place.
This newsletter was created to enhance students' affection for their hometown and understanding of the local area through reading activities, and to spread a happy reading culture that harmoniously nurtures character and intellect through the "Path of Walking with Books."
The newsletter, which provides customized reading experience information linked to the Busan environment, sets its first theme as "Reading Science Like the Sea" and introduces the Haeundae area.
Students move between Naerisaera Library, National Busan Science Museum, Osiria Coastal Walk, and National Fisheries Science Museum, taking on "Reading on the Road" missions such as ▲ reading and summarizing books related to the sea or ocean ▲ organizing what they learned from reading books related to the sea or ocean ▲ introducing a book they read at the most memorable location.
Starting with the first issue, the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education plans to produce newsletters for a total of 10 reading courses.
The 10 reading courses include ▲ Yeongdo Huinyeoul Culture Village Road ▲ the "Path of Reading Peace" connecting the UN Memorial Hall, UN Sculpture Park, and Peace Park ▲ the "Path of Breathing History" that includes Bokcheondong Ancient Tombs, Dongnae Eupseong History Museum, Dongnae Hyanggyo, and Anlak Seowon ▲ Yongdusan Park and Bosu-dong Book Alley, among others.
