BOK Appoints Kwon Min-su, Director of Foreign Exchange Operations, as New Deputy Governor

The Bank of Korea announced on the 16th that it has appointed Kwon Min-su (54), Director of the Foreign Exchange Operations Department, as the new Deputy Governor in charge of International Finance and Cooperation.
The newly appointed Deputy Governor Kwon Min-su joined the bank in 1995 and is an expert in foreign exchange and international finance, having worked for a long time in the Foreign Exchange Operations Department and the International Department. He graduated from Whimoon High School in Seoul, earned a degree in Business Administration from Yonsei University, and completed graduate studies at Yale School of Management in the United States.
He has extensive practical experience in international finance, having served as head of the Foreign Exchange Market Team and the Operations Strategy Team. Since June last year, he has served as Director of the Foreign Exchange Operations Department, leading the establishment and expansion of the ESG investment system, which is evaluated to have significantly strengthened the Bank of Korea's foreign currency asset management capabilities.
Deputy Governor Kwon’s term will run from the 17th of this month until May 16, 2027.
A Bank of Korea official stated, "Based on his deep understanding and insight into global financial markets, as well as his broad network with leading domestic and international institutions and figures, he will faithfully support the Governor’s policy implementation. We expect him to enhance the external stability of our economy and actively respond to issues discussed in international organizations."

Meanwhile, the former Deputy Governor Min Jwa-hong retired after completing his three-year term on the same day.
