Our Country's Representative Natural Heritage, Dinosaur Fossil Site Free Admission Until the 19th
Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 16th that the Haenam Dinosaur Museum will be open free of charge for five days from the 15th to the 19th to commemorate the launch of the Cultural Heritage Administration and to share the value of national heritage.
Since the enactment of the Cultural Heritage Protection Act in 1962, the government has overcome the limitations of the existing cultural heritage policy that has continued for over 60 years and will establish a national heritage system that meets international standards such as UNESCO. From the 17th, the existing Cultural Heritage Administration will be renamed the Cultural Heritage Administration, and the organization will be newly reorganized.
Accordingly, the existing term ‘cultural heritage’ will be changed to national heritage, and a management system will be established by dividing national heritage into cultural heritage, natural heritage, and intangible heritage.
The Haenam Dinosaur Museum is the largest specialized museum in Korea in the field of dinosaurs, managing the national heritage natural monument No. 394, ‘Haenam Uhang-ri Dinosaur, Pterosaur, and Bird Footprints.’
The ‘Haenam Uhang-ri Dinosaur, Pterosaur, and Bird Footprint Fossil Site’ was recognized as an important paleoenvironmental research resource where various dinosaur habitats and dinosaurs, pterosaurs, and birds coexisted, and was registered as a national heritage in 1998.
