Gwangju University Department of Emergency Medical Services Designated as Training Institution by International Emergency Medical Technicians Association
The Department of Emergency Medical Services at Gwangju University was recently designated as a training institution for the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) Basic Trauma Life Support (FOTS), Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) programs.
The NAEMT issued a certificate recognizing the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Gwangju University as an accredited training facility, acknowledging that it has developed and maintained high-quality emergency medical services (EMS) education programs and met the requirements for facilities and equipment. This designation is the first of its kind in the Gwangju and Jeonnam regions.
The NAEMT’s education programs are specialized trauma care courses designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of prehospital care providers, improve their patient care capabilities, reduce mortality and morbidity from severe trauma, and systematically provide appropriate trauma care to all prehospital emergency care providers.

Choi Seong-su, head of the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Gwangju University, stated, "With this designation as a training institution, the Department of Emergency Medical Services at Gwangju University will be able to cultivate higher-level emergency medical technicians and provide quality education programs to prehospital emergency care providers in the region, contributing to reducing the mortality rate of severe trauma patients."
