Citizens Visiting the Open Event Venue... KBS Busan Hall North Parking Lot to Be Provided Free of Charge for Open Event Venue Use
On the morning of the 16th at 11:00 AM, the Busan Metropolitan City will sign a "Parking Lot Shared Use Business Agreement" with KBS Busan Broadcasting Station.
The signing ceremony will be held in the second conference room of KBS Busan Broadcasting Station, with Mayor Park Hyungjoon and KBS Busan Broadcasting Station Director Kang Seokhoon in attendance.
The city has been working to secure parking spaces to improve accessibility for citizens using the venue, in line with the full opening of the "Busan Open Event Hall" scheduled for September. This agreement was made possible through the cooperation of KBS Busan Broadcasting Station.
The 24 parking spaces within the Open Event Hall will primarily be used by people with disabilities, the elderly, and pregnant women?groups with limited mobility?while general visitors will now be able to use the north parking lot of KBS Busan Hall thanks to this agreement.
Through this agreement, KBS Busan Broadcasting Station will provide the "KBS Busan Hall North Parking Lot" free of charge for visitors to the Open Event Hall, and the city will be responsible for its operation and management.
The "KBS Busan Hall North Parking Lot" is located on the premises of KBS Busan Broadcasting Station and covers an area of 2,324 square meters. It can accommodate approximately 80 passenger vehicles.
The Open Event Hall was designed in 1985 by the late architect Kim Joongup, a master of modern Korean architecture, and has since served as the presidential local residence and the official residence of the Busan mayor. In line with Mayor Park's promise to return the venue to the citizens of Busan, it is now being developed into a multi-purpose cultural space.
Once fully opened in September, the city plans to operate the Open Event Hall as a multi-purpose space for international conferences, academic meetings, forums, and events; a tiered lecture hall where renowned domestic and international figures can share their knowledge and experiences; and a lifestyle garden integrated with small walking paths, allowing citizens to enjoy leisure within the city?a true multi-purpose cultural space for Busan residents.
Furthermore, by the end of the year, the city plans to designate it as a unique venue, aiming to develop it into an attractive space with diverse cultural content.
A unique venue refers to a space or facility that can host MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events and offers special experiences unique to the city.
Mayor Park Hyungjoon stated, "Thanks to the interest and cooperation of KBS Busan Broadcasting Station, we have been able to significantly improve transportation accessibility for citizens using the Open Event Hall's multi-purpose cultural space. While preserving the historical value of the Open Event Hall, we will boldly reinterpret it as a healing multi-purpose cultural space and return it to the citizens of Busan. We will do our utmost to ensure this space becomes a beloved place for all citizens."
