Pohang City held the ‘Final Inspection Briefing for the Pohang International Fireworks Festival’ in the main conference room of City Hall on the 14th.
Presided over by Mayor Lee Kangdeok, the briefing began with a comprehensive report from the Pohang Cultural Foundation, the festival organizer, and focused on reviewing the current status and final preparations for the festival with related departments and relevant agencies such as Pohang Bukbu Police Station, Pohang Nam and Bukbu Fire Stations, and Pohang Maritime Police Station.
To ensure the successful hosting of the Pohang International Fireworks Festival, the city is striving to minimize inconvenience for visitors and ensure safety by systematically inspecting all related areas, including ▲enhancing the safety of festival programs ▲pre-event safety checks at the venue ▲establishing traffic measures ▲deployment and management of staff ▲support for various administrative matters.
In particular, since the main events will take place at night, a joint comprehensive situation room will be operated with relevant agencies, and all efforts will be made for safety through real-time safety text broadcasts, DJ Police (vehicles for crowd control), and safety promotions via on-site LED screens.
Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, “We will establish thorough safety measures so that visitors to this year’s Pohang International Fireworks Festival can enjoy the event with peace of mind. I ask everyone to fulfill their respective roles, and through meticulous preparation in the remaining period, we will showcase the true essence of Pohang’s representative festival.”
This year, the ‘2024 Pohang International Fireworks Festival’ will be held for three days from May 31 to June 2 at the Yeongildae Beach area.
On the opening day, May 31, special performances of ‘fire’ and ‘light’ are scheduled. The ‘Bul Dokkaebi Performance’ by Korea’s top fire performance team and a spectacular ‘Convergent Light Performance’ will be followed by the ‘Daily Fireworks Show & Fireworks Drone Show,’ lighting up Pohang’s night sea.
The main day of the festival, June 1, will feature a large-scale ‘Fireworks Drone Show’ using 1,000 drones, the ‘International Fireworks Competition’ with teams from three countries (UK, Australia, China), and the festival highlight ‘Grand Finale (Korea)’ set against the backdrop of Yeongil Bridge and the night view of POSCO, illuminating Pohang’s night sky with dazzling ‘lights’ for visitors.
On the final day, June 2, the ‘Yeongildae Youth Talk Show’ will be held on-site with Meta Comedy Song Habin and Kim Dongha, followed by the ‘Fireworks Romance Concert’ featuring the sweet melodies of Lee Seokhun and Woody. The day will conclude with a special ‘Daily Fireworks Show & Multimedia Show’ enhanced with unique lighting effects, awaiting the audience.
