Gyeonggi-do Promotes Strengthening 'Public Nature of City Buses' Using Transportation Card Data
Gyeonggi Province is conducting a study on ways to strengthen the public nature of city buses by utilizing transportation card usage data.
Since 2007, Gyeonggi Province has signed a business agreement with the Gyeonggi Province Bus Transportation Business Association and transportation card settlement companies to share transportation card usage data, including bus usage performance and resident demand. This data is used for bus information such as arrival time guidance and bus transportation management policies.
Since January, Gyeonggi Province has implemented the Gyeonggi-type semi-public bus system called the 'City Bus Public Management System.' An internal and external expert task force for transportation card data innovation has been formed to discuss measures for utilizing and managing transportation card data and to conduct policy research aimed at strengthening the public nature of city buses.
