Busan Office of Education and Busan City Join Forces to Support Education for Multichild Families
'Multichild Education Support Points Project' Fully Launched
30,000 KRW for 2 Children Once a Year · 50,000 KRW for 3 or More Children
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education is joining hands with Busan City to actively promote the ‘Busan Multi-Child Education Support Points’ project to overcome Busan’s low birthrate issue and reduce the economic burden on parents of multi-child families.
The Busan Office of Education will provide ‘education support points’ to multi-child families with at least one child born between 2006 and 2017 who are in the elementary, middle, or high school age range. There are no income or property restrictions, but support is only available to applicants who have been residents of Busan for at least three months based on their resident registration.
These points will be given once a year, with 300,000 KRW for families with two children and 500,000 KRW for families with three or more children. The points will be provided as policy funds through Busan’s local currency ‘Dongbaekjeon’ and can be used at affiliated stores under the education expense category.
They can be used for ▲ purchasing learning materials and books ▲ fees for study spaces such as reading rooms and study cafes ▲ tuition for arts and physical education academies ▲ stationery, copying, and printing costs ▲ swimming pool fees to develop elementary students’ survival swimming skills, among others.
Payments can also be made at four online bookstores: Kyobo Book Centre, Youngpoong Bookstore, YES24, and Aladin. However, to strengthen public education and reduce private education burdens, the points cannot be used at academic academies for subjects such as Korean, English, and Math.
The application period is from the 20th of this month to November 29th, and applications can be submitted via the mobile Dongbaekjeon app.
During the first week of applications, system overload may cause inconvenience. If the applicant and child share the same resident registration household, points will be issued immediately; if they belong to separate households, issuance will proceed sequentially after verification through family relation registration documents.
Additionally, applicants who have difficulty using mobile services due to not having a personal mobile phone or using a 2G phone can also apply via email.
