Gyeonggawon, Seminar on 'Medical AI and Digital Healthcare' on the 16th
The Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency will jointly host the "Medical Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Healthcare Seminar" with Sungkyunkwan University’s College of Software Convergence on the 16th at the Gyeonggi Bio Center conference room within Suwon Gwanggyo Technovalley.
This seminar was planned as part of the "2024 Digital Innovative Medical Device Development Support Project" to strengthen the competitiveness of small and medium-sized medical device companies in the province and to promote the digital transformation of related industries.
In particular, this seminar is significant as it provides a platform for industry-academia-research stakeholders to understand technological trends and exchange ideas regarding the current status of medical AI development in the digital healthcare field and application cases through medical imaging (digital data) and genomic analysis.
AI-based digital transformation in the medical field is an important technological advancement that improves diagnostic accuracy and enhances the efficiency of medical services by analyzing and processing patient data in real time.
According to the global research firm Statista, the global AI healthcare market size is estimated to grow from $11 billion (15.0458 trillion KRW) in 2021 to $188 billion (257.1464 trillion KRW) by 2030.
As of February this year, Gyeonggi-do, with a population of 13.63 million, is a region with excellent medical standards and infrastructure; however, continuous interest and support are necessary to strengthen global competitiveness and achieve sustainable development in the AI medical industry sector.
At this seminar, innovative ideas and solutions that will lead the digital innovation of Gyeonggi-do’s medical industry will also be shared through lectures by experts from industry, academia, and research.
Professor Jeong Gyu-hwan of Sungkyunkwan University’s Samsung Convergence Medical Science Institute will give a lecture on "Business Trends and Prospects Related to the Use of Personal Sensitive Medical Information." An Hyun-soon, CTO of Medical Standard, will speak on "AI-based Medical System Digital Transformation and Diagnostic Technologies Related to Medical Imaging," and Kang Sang-gu, CEO of Medisapiens, will lecture on "Commercial Application Cases of Diagnostic Technologies and Treatment Recommendations for Medical Information (Digital Imaging, Genomics)." Medisapiens is a bio startup that developed an early diagnosis system for rare neonatal genetic diseases.
Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency President Kang Sung-cheon stated, "The importance of AI innovative technology in the medical industry is growing," and added, "We expect this seminar to greatly contribute to discovering new AI-based solutions in the digital medical field and promoting the commercialization of related technologies."
