Strengthening Practice of Waste Separation in Daily Life...Guidance on Proper Disposal Methods by Item
Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it will conduct a "Visiting Customized Resource Circulation Education" to improve awareness of resource recycling and promote the culture of proper waste separation and disposal.
Environmental pollution has emerged as a serious social issue due to increasing waste. However, even basic waste separation and disposal are not being properly practiced, emphasizing the need for correct waste separation and active participation in resource circulation.
Accordingly, through this education program, the district plans to promote the seriousness of environmental pollution and the climate crisis, proper waste separation methods by item, and the importance of resource circulation.
Additionally, the program will be segmented by target age groups from infants to adults, visiting daycare centers, schools, and other locations to provide age-appropriate customized education, aiming to spread a culture of proper waste separation and create a sustainable resource circulation city.
This year’s education will be conducted 30 times in total, divided into the first and second halves of the year. The first half of the education will continue until July. The second half, starting in September, will recruit participants through a later announcement.
The education, tailored to the level of each target group, will combine theoretical lessons and experiential classes. Infants will learn proper waste separation methods through play-based activities using picture books about resource recycling. Elementary, middle, and high school students will engage in theoretical education on resource circulation and hands-on activities such as creating upcycling projects to practice resource circulation firsthand. For adults, resource circulation education will be conducted in cooperation with local organizations such as residents' autonomy committees and neighborhood leaders, targeting district residents.
Furthermore, the district plans to promote experiential education linked to the currently operating waste separation project "Sseuda Jeompang (Waste Diet Store)," where infants and elementary students can exchange transparent PET bottles, milk cartons, and used batteries for designated waste bags on-site.
