Dongjak-gu, First Autonomous District in Seoul to Prepare for Unified Kindergarten and Daycare Implementation
Seminar Held on the 13th for Yubo Integration Preparation... Proactive Discussion on Safe Childcare in Dongjak-gu with Experts from Various Fields
Dongjak-gu is taking the lead in responding to the integration of early childhood education and care, known as ‘Yubotonghap,’ to create a child-friendly environment.
Dongjak-gu (Mayor Park Il-ha) announced that it will hold the ‘Childcare Innovation and Yubotonghap Response Seminar,’ the first of its kind among Seoul’s autonomous districts, on the 13th at 2 p.m. in the district office auditorium.
This policy seminar, themed ‘Exploring Development Plans for Dongjak-gu Childcare Policy in Preparation for Yubotonghap,’ was organized to establish a childcare foundation in Dongjak-gu in line with the full implementation of ‘Yubotonghap’ starting next year.
‘Yubotonghap’ is a policy that unifies the management system of kindergartens and daycare centers so that all children aged 0 to 5 can receive high-quality education and care services.
With the unification of the kindergarten and childcare management systems, early childhood care responsibilities will be transferred to the Ministry of Education, which is expected to bring changes to the district’s childcare policies. This seminar aims to gather local conditions, consumer demands, and expert recommendations.
The seminar will be chaired by Professor Kim Sang-ok of the Department of Welfare Management at Soongsil University, with panelists including ▲ Gong Byung-ho, education expert and emeritus professor of Early Childhood Education at Osan University ▲ Yang Mi-sun, senior researcher at the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education ▲ Jeon Eun-mi, director of Dongjak-gu Childcare Support Center ▲ Jeon Yang-suk, president of the Seoul Private Daycare Center Association under the Korea Children’s Federation.
The panelists will discuss the necessity of Yubotonghap, overseas cases, key issues, and response strategies, followed by a Q&A session with attendees.
Any Dongjak-gu residents interested in Yubotonghap, including local childcare staff and parents, are welcome to participate.
For more details on how to participate in this childcare innovation seminar, please contact the Early Childhood Care Division.
Going forward, policy proposals presented at this seminar will be actively reflected in the establishment of childcare innovation measures.
Through this, the district plans to strengthen the foundation of public education and provide customized childcare services centered on young children to create a safe childcare environment.
