On the 8th, Governor Kim posted on his social media, "The economic and innovation centers of Korea and the U.S., Gyeonggi Province and California, have finally met," adding, "I started the first schedule of the trip with a meeting with Gavin Newsom, Governor of California."
He continued, "California is the most populous state in the U.S. and has the world's 5th largest economy, sharing many similarities with Gyeonggi Province," and introduced, "I met with Governor Gavin Newsom to resume the friendly cooperative relationship between Gyeonggi Province and California after 12 years."
In particular, he said, "We agreed to closely cooperate in areas where both regions have strengths, such as climate change, human exchange, and startups," adding, "'Not rhetoric, but commitment.' I am confident that the conversation with Governor Newsom will lead to tangible results and exchanges."
Governor Kim also stated, "I visited NVIDIA and Google's headquarters in San Francisco," and explained, "I met with Shanker Trivedi, Senior Vice President of NVIDIA, and discussed the AI data center that Gyeonggi Province is promoting. Especially, I requested NVIDIA's cooperation with plans to build a data center specialized in culture or climate in northern Gyeonggi, and received a positive response."
He added, "At Google, we talked about AI startups and talent development in Gyeonggi Province," and explained, "AI companies in the province also participated to discuss practical cooperation plans, and I look forward to various collaborations between Gyeonggi Province and Google in the future."
