Uljin-gun Public Officials Honor Seniors by Pinning Carnations with Respectful Hearts
On the 7th, Uljin-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, held a carnation pinning event to celebrate Family Month by visiting the oldest elderly household (108 years old) and nursing homes in the area.
The carnations used in this event were made by about 250 public officials of Uljin-gun as part of volunteer work for Family Month, using upcycled materials such as sock yarn, and message cards expressing respect were also prepared.
In addition, carnations were pinned on each elderly person during visits to the oldest elderly household, Pyeonghae Nursing Home, Uljin-gun Nursing Home, and El Nursing Home.
An elderly resident living in a nursing home said, “I am truly grateful that you came to visit and pinned a carnation on me,” and smiled, saying, “Thanks to the bright carnations, I feel happier.”
