Lotte Duty Free, Over 4,000 Chinese Tourists Visit... Largest Scale Since Endemic
Chinese Incentive Group Visits Myeongdong Main Store
Lotte Duty Free announced on the 8th that more than 4,000 Chinese incentive group tourists visited its Myeongdong main store the previous day. This is the first time since the endemic that a large-scale Chinese incentive group of over 4,000 people has visited Korea.
The visiting group consisted of employees of a Taiwanese cosmetics company who were granted a reward vacation by their company. They arrived on the morning of the 7th aboard the cruise ship Spectrum of the Seas, which departed from Shanghai, China. The incentive group toured major tourist attractions in the metropolitan area and Incheon, including Gyeonghuigung Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and traditional markets, as well as the Lotte Duty Free shopping course, before departing that evening.

Analysis of purchase data showed that about 70% of purchases were luxury boutiques and high-priced items such as watches and jewelry, followed by imported cosmetics and food categories gaining popularity. The average customer age was relatively young, in their 30s and 40s, and due to the nature of the group traveling on a reward vacation cruise, their purchasing power was analyzed to be high.
Meanwhile, Lotte Duty Free is collaborating with the Incheon Tourism Organization to prepare for the successful hosting of the ‘2nd 1883 Incheon Maekgang Party’ scheduled for the 25th of this month. Through this, they plan to attract about 10,000 foreign tourists from 10 countries including China, Taiwan, and Hong Kong to Korea.
