Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Dong-yeon has been selected as the metropolitan local government head who best fulfills campaign promises.
According to the evaluation results of the fulfillment and information disclosure of campaign promises by mayors and governors nationwide in the 8th local election term, announced by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters on the 7th, Governor Kim received the highest SA grade.
Governor Kim has received the top evaluation related to campaign promises for three consecutive years, winning the Grand Prize in the election promise category of the 'Manifesto Promise Awards' in 2022, and being selected for the SA grade in the 'Campaign Promise Implementation Plan Evaluation' last year.
The Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters' campaign promise evaluation team evaluated the campaign promises of mayors and governors nationwide from February this year, based on the status as of the end of December 2023, divided into five categories: ▲completion of campaign promises ▲achievement level of campaign goals ▲resident communication ▲web communication ▲consistency of campaign promises, and then classified the evaluation results into six grades from SA to F.
Among these, Governor Kim received excellent evaluations in the completion of campaign promises and resident communication categories, earning an overall SA grade.
Governor Kim fulfilled 35.59% of all campaign promises in this evaluation, significantly exceeding the national average of 27.44% for cities and provinces. The financial procurement rate compared to the plan during the term was also the highest among cities and provinces nationwide at 54.59%.
In addition, Gyeonggi Province regularly discloses the status of campaign promise fulfillment on its official website, and actively ensures resident participation in the campaign promise evaluation process according to the governor’s campaign promise management regulations, demonstrating active resident communication.
Governor Kim Dong-yeon stated, "Keeping promises to the residents is the most important principle and value of provincial administration," and added, "I will do my best to sincerely fulfill the campaign promises during the remaining term to create a Gyeonggi Province full of opportunities for all 14 million residents."
