"ESG Top 1% Worldwide"... HMM Achieves EcoVadis Highest Rating
Third in the World, First in Korea to Achieve
HMM received the highest rating for the first time domestically and ranked third globally in the shipping industry from an overseas ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation agency.
On the 7th, HMM announced that it had obtained the 'Platinum' rating in the ESG evaluation conducted by EcoVadis, a global ESG rating agency based in France.
The evaluation is conducted across four categories: ▲Environment ▲Labor/Human Rights ▲Ethics ▲Sustainable Procurement. Based on the results, ratings are assigned as Platinum (top 1%), Gold (5%), Silver (15%), and Bronze (35%). HMM progressed from Silver in 2021, Gold in 2022-2023, to the highest rating this year. In addition to its existing strengths in the environmental sector, achieving high scores in sustainable procurement was a key factor.
Currently, the only global container shipping companies known to have received the Platinum rating are Maersk (2023, ranked 2nd worldwide in fleet capacity) and CMA-CGM (2024, ranked 3rd worldwide in fleet capacity).
