Successful Hosting of the 38th Geumcheon Myeon Residents' Day in Naju, Jeonnam
Naju City announced on the 1st that the ‘38th Geumcheon Residents' Day’ event was recently held successfully at Honam Horticultural High School, with about 500 attendees including residents, hometown visitors, and heads of institutions and social organizations.
Organized by the Geumcheon Regional Development Council (Chairman Park Kyung-chun, hereafter Geumcheon RDC), the event began with performances by the Asorang Pungmul Troupe, children from the local children's center performing Nanta, and Janggu drumming by urban regeneration members, followed by a commemorative ceremony, a cheerful sports day, a residents' singing contest, a guest singer performance, and a raffle.
The event was attended by distinguished guests including Naju Mayor Yoon Byung-tae, National Assembly member Shin Jeong-hoon, City Council Chairman Lee Sang-man, Provincial Assembly member Kim Ho-jin, City Council member Choi Moon-hwan, and local residents.
Various awards were also presented to local residents. The commendation for contributions to city development was awarded to Park Chae-yeol, the inaugural chairman of the Geumcheon Regional Development Association. The National Assembly Award went to Im Yang-su and Park Mi-sun, the Geumcheon Township Chief Award to students Jeong Chae-eun and Kim Ye-rim, and the Regional Development Council Award for filial sons and daughters to Yoon Hee-jung and Min Ae-jin. A letter of appreciation was given to Park Deok-gwi, and commendations for public officials were awarded to Team Leader Yoon Jong-seok and Deputy Director Park Kyung-ran.
Chairman Park Kyung-chun said, “It is meaningful and deeply moving to hold the ‘38th Geumcheon Residents' Day’ festival after a long time,” adding, “Let us all unite and work together to become a hopeful Geumcheon that looks to the future as one.”
Geumcheon Township Chief Choi Yo-nim stated, “This event is especially meaningful as a precious day commemorating the unity of all residents,” and added, “I hope everyone will cooperate in creating a happy and developing Geumcheon in the future.”
Naju Mayor Yoon Byung-tae expressed, “I hope the 38th anniversary Geumcheon Residents' Day festival will serve as an opportunity for further development of Geumcheon.”
