Son Kyung-chan, Former Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly Member, Appointed Chairman of Daegu Gwangyeok Ilbo
Daegu Metropolitan Daily, a daily newspaper published in Daegu, recently held an extraordinary general meeting of shareholders and appointed Son Kyung-chan (66), Chairman of the External Cooperation Committee of the Federation of Korean Freedom, as the 2nd president.

The newly appointed President Son is from Yeonghae-myeon, Yeongdeok-gun, and has served as a 7th member of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly, an advisory member of the Presidential Committee for National Integration, and president of the Daegu branch of the Korea-China City Friendship Association. Son, who is active as a poet and essayist, received the grand prize at the 17th Yeonghonam Essay Literature Awards and was awarded the Order of Civil Merit, Pomegranate Medal, for his contributions to community service.
President Son stated, “I will implement new management to create a ‘new Daegu Metropolitan Daily’ aimed at sustainable growth. Only a newspaper that ‘readers want,’ ‘readers hope for,’ and ‘readers think of’ is the way for local newspapers to survive,” emphasizing, and added, “I will join hands with all executives and employees, as well as the management, to contribute to the development of Daegu Metropolitan Daily.”
