On the 30th at 4 p.m., Daegu City signed an investment agreement with SJ Innotech (CEO Jeong Seong-ho) at the Sanggyeok Office of Daegu City Hall to establish a ‘secondary battery module and pack manufacturing facility.’
Founded in 1997, SJ Innotech is a specialized manufacturer of industrial screen printers and automation equipment. The company plans to invest 129.3 billion KRW incrementally by 2027 on a 50,860㎡ (15,385 pyeong) site within Kumho Waterpolis to newly build a future car battery module and pack manufacturing facility.
The decisive factor behind this large-scale investment was the recognition by a major domestic electric vehicle battery company of SJ Innotech’s specialized technological capabilities in the electric vehicle module and pack sector, which led to a contract on March 27 this year for joint operation of a sample shop between the two parties.
The newly established factory, which will serve as a strategic platform for the sample shop, is scheduled to begin construction in the second half of 2024, complete by the end of 2025, and then start full-scale product mass production.
This investment focuses on building a specialized production line to mass-produce next-generation high-efficiency battery modules and packs in response to the increasing demand for electric vehicle batteries driven by the growth of the global electric vehicle market.
Through this large-scale investment, SJ Innotech expects to contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of the domestic secondary battery industry by introducing advanced technology and automated production processes to improve the stability and performance of electric vehicle battery modules.

The company has set a goal of 800 billion KRW in annual sales and envisions becoming a global company not only as a total solution provider for future mobility batteries but also as an equipment manufacturer.
Jeong Seong-ho, CEO of SJ Innotech, stated, “This investment will solidify our position within the electric vehicle industry and establish a strategic platform that enables pilot production of next-generation new technologies and rapid market response. We will contribute to creating new jobs and revitalizing the local economy, and strive to help Daegu become a future industry hub city not only for future vehicles but also for ESS industries and semiconductor equipment manufacturing.”

Mayor Hong Jun-pyo said, “I expect that the large-scale investment by SJ Innotech, a company that has grown locally, will play a significant role in Daegu’s leap to becoming a future mobility hub city. We will spare no administrative and policy support, including one-stop investment assistance, to help SJ Innotech become a leading company in the global electric vehicle market.”
