Hyundai Heavy Industries Wins Award in Small and Medium Enterprises Sector
The Korea Employers Federation selected SK Telecom, Kumho Petrochemical, and Hyundai Heavy Industries Turbo Machinery as exemplary cases of labor-management cooperation.
On the 30th, the Federation held the 36th Korea Labor-Management Cooperation Awards ceremony at the Press Center in Jung-gu, Seoul.
This year, SK Telecom and Kumho Petrochemical were chosen as grand prize winners in the large enterprise category. Hyundai Heavy Industries Turbo Machinery received the grand prize in the mid-sized and small enterprise category.
SK Telecom's labor and management were highly evaluated for building trust through communication via various media. Notably, since the establishment of the labor union in 1988, they have maintained a dispute-free record. SK Telecom has spent an average of 19 billion KRW annually on employee education and training budgets.
Kumho Petrochemical has three labor unions but has maintained a dispute-free record since the establishment of its unions in 1987. The Federation explained the selection background, stating, "Especially, Kumho Petrochemical's unions entrusted wage and collective bargaining negotiations to the company for three years from 2020 to 2022, further solidifying trust between labor and management, serving as a model for a win-win labor-management relationship."
Hyundai Heavy Industries Turbo Machinery was recognized for holding various events annually with participation from both labor and management, fostering active communication. Additionally, the company shared its vision with employees and held an ‘In-house Best Practice Competition’ to improve work methods, which also received high praise.
