The meeting was attended by Choi Tae-won, Chairman of SK Group and Chairman of KCCI, Yang Geol, Chairman of the China-Korea Chamber of Commerce, and Bi Jingquan, Director of CCIEE, among other Korean and Chinese representatives.
This meeting was organized to review the implementation status of the agenda discussed at the "4th Korea-China High-Level Economic Dialogue" held in Seoul last December and to set the agenda for the "5th Dialogue" scheduled to be held in Beijing in the second half of this year.
In addition, the two sides shared difficulties faced by companies operating in both countries and discussed private cooperation measures among Korea, China, and Japan.
CCIEE is a leading Chinese think tank composed of major state-owned and private enterprise members from various industries in China. It conducts research on domestic and international economic issues, international exchanges, and consulting activities.
The "Korea-China High-Level Economic Dialogue," co-hosted by KCCI and CCIEE, is a regular event alternately held by the two countries since the first dialogue in Beijing in 2018. It is a "1.5-track dialogue platform" involving leading businesspeople and government officials from both countries.
At last year’s dialogue, both governments jointly proposed tasks for Korea-China economic cooperation, including strengthening multilateral cooperation, supporting promising industries, cooperation in the pharmaceutical and bio sectors, and expanding cultural exchanges. Additionally, the two organizations are jointly conducting a "Study on Korea-China Economic Cooperation Measures" to develop the agenda for this dialogue.
KCCI stated, "For government-to-government cooperation to progress, it is necessary to gain public support and consensus on economic cooperation through private channels," adding, "We plan to focus on concretizing and objectively demonstrating the achievements of economic cooperation through continuous communication."
