Three New Schools Including Yongsan 2nd Elementary in Daejeon Established... Approved by Ministry of Education Review
Conditional Approval for Yongsan 2nd Elementary, Yonggye Elementary, and Yonggye Middle Schools
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education announced that it has received approval for the establishment of three new schools, including the tentatively named Yongsan 2 Elementary School, in the Ministry of Education's 2nd regular central investment review.
The Yongsan 2 Elementary School establishment project was advised last year to prepare a plan to resolve school site issues considering measures for the downsizing of nearby schools and site allocation standards, and after efforts to prepare the implementation plan, it was judged appropriate.
The tentatively named Yonggye Elementary School and Yonggye Middle School were conditionally approved based on the school establishment plan report for the Doan district. Yonggye Elementary School is being promoted to accommodate elementary students due to development within Doan New Town, including the Doan 2-3 district apartment complex scheduled for occupancy in July 2026 and the Doan 2-5 district apartment complex planned for sale.
Additionally, Yonggye Middle School is urgently needed to accommodate the increasing number of students due to the development projects in Doan Phase 2 and Gapcheon district waterfront area and to alleviate overcrowded classes in middle schools within the school district.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Office of Education plans to thoroughly prepare the implementation plans for the conditions of Yonggye Elementary and Middle Schools and aims to open the schools in 2027 and 2028, respectively.
