Gwangju Seo-gu Conducts Safety Training for Participants in Self-Support Work Program

Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (District Mayor Kim Ikang) announced on the 26th that it conducted safety education for about 70 participants of the self-sufficiency work project at the Sangmu Regional Self-Sufficiency Center the previous day.

The self-sufficiency project is a program provided by linking employment and welfare to help low-income residents with work ability under the National Basic Livelihood Security Act become independent by improving self-sufficiency skills and supporting skill acquisition. The education was promoted to establish a safety management system for the self-sufficiency project and to strengthen the safety awareness level of participants.

The education attendees were participants in self-sufficiency projects directly operated by the district, such as welfare helpers, hope keepers, and work maintenance types. They contribute to improving resident welfare and creating a pleasant environment in various frontline fields, including assisting social welfare work at the district office and community centers, checking on integrated care recipients, and maintaining the local environment.

On that day, Seo-gu invited instructor Lee Yushin from the Gwangju Metropolitan Headquarters of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency to conduct education focused on various cases, including ▲safety accident cases ▲accident prevention measures ▲worker health management tips.

Kim Seonghee, Director of the Disabled Hope Welfare Division, said, “We will make further efforts to ensure safe work by preventing various safety accidents among participants in the self-sufficiency work project so that low-income groups can become economically independent.”
