[Yang Nak-gyu's Defence photo] Amphibious Operation with All Forces United
The Marine Corps Headquarters conducted a large-scale joint amphibious landing exercise from the 17th near the waters and training grounds around Pohang. Approximately 2,800 troops at the brigade level from the Marine Corps, Navy, Army, and Air Force were mobilized for this exercise. Additionally, the exercise involved 24 Korean Amphibious Assault Vehicles (KAAV), 15 naval vessels including large transport ships (LPH) and landing ships, and about 20 aircraft including amphibious assault helicopters (MUH-1), Army helicopters CH-47, and Air Force transport planes C-130, representing the combined forces of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The training proceeded in the following order: ▲ planning of the landing operation ▲ loading of troops and equipment onto ships ▲ movement of ships to the operational area ▲ sea and air assault to secure the landing objective (decisive action). On the day of the 'decisive action' phase, the Marine landing forces aboard landing ships, transport planes, helicopters, amphibious assault vehicles, and air-cushioned landing craft successfully landed on the target coast, supported by naval gunfire from Navy vessels, combat missions by Air Force fighter jets, and cover from Army attack helicopters.
