Gyeonggi-do Launches Online Campaign Urging Government and National Assembly to Enact 'RE100 3 Laws' Legislation
Gyeonggi Province is conducting an online campaign titled ‘Protect the Earth's Life Temperature 1.5℃ with RE100’ targeting the National Assembly and the government until the end of May, in celebration of the 2nd Climate Change Week, urging the enactment of the ‘RE100 3 Acts’.
Earlier, in April last year, Gyeonggi Province announced the ‘Gyeonggi RE100’ vision, which includes the goal of expanding the share of renewable energy power generation to 30% by 2030.
The RE100 3 Acts serve as the institutional foundation for implementing Gyeonggi RE100 and include ▲amendment of the ‘Renewable Energy Act’ to realize national RE100 ▲enactment of the ‘Agro-Solar Support Act (tentative name)’ to realize rural RE100 ▲amendment of the ‘Industrial Cluster Act’ to realize industrial complex RE100.
The amendment to the Renewable Energy Act includes provisions to expand renewable energy, such as specifying the 30% renewable energy power generation share target by 2030 and abolishing unreasonable solar panel setback distance regulations.

The amendment to the Industrial Cluster Act includes provisions to establish renewable energy plans and mandate solar panel installation by tenant companies when formulating new industrial complex development plans.
Gyeonggi Province expects that the enactment and amendment of the RE100 3 Acts will achieve the national target of 30% renewable energy power generation share by 2030, resulting in a reduction of 23 million tons of greenhouse gas emissions, along with an induced production effect of 13 trillion KRW, an induced added value effect of 48 trillion KRW, and the creation of 472,000 jobs.
