"Adjusting Refresh Rate and Resolution According to Content"... LGD Develops New Concept Gaming OLED Panel
'31.5-inch Gaming OLED Panel' Development Completed, Mass Production This Month
Adjusting Video Processing Speed with Proprietary Technology 'DFR'
LG Display is targeting the high-end gaming display market with a new concept gaming organic light-emitting diode (OLED) panel.
LG Display announced on the 23rd that it has completed the development of the world's first '31.5-inch gaming OLED panel' capable of switching refresh rates and resolutions, and has started mass production this month.

This panel allows users to choose between a high refresh rate mode (FHD·480Hz) and a high resolution mode (UHD·240Hz) depending on the content. The refresh rate refers to the number of images displayed on the monitor per second, while the resolution refers to the number of pixels that make up the screen. A higher refresh rate displays fast-changing images smoothly and clearly, and a higher resolution expresses videos and images in greater detail.
When users select the high refresh rate mode, they can enjoy fast-paced games such as FPS (first-person shooter) or racing without lag at the highest 480Hz refresh rate among existing OLED monitors. When selecting the high resolution mode, the panel delivers 4K UHD (3840*2160) quality, allowing viewers to experience natural colors and brightness vividly and three-dimensionally, as if seeing with the naked eye.
Existing panels had fixed resolutions even when switching refresh rates, making it difficult to use for various purposes. LG Display solved this with its independently developed new technology 'DFR' (Dynamic Refresh Rate & Resolution), which adjusts video processing speed to allow users to prioritize either refresh rate or resolution. This technology is applied for the first time in the 31.5-inch gaming OLED panel now in mass production.
New technologies to enhance immersion have also been incorporated. By maximizing the light emission of organic materials, the panel achieves the highest brightness among large OLED panels through 'Meta Technology 2.0,' improving image quality. Additionally, the 'Thin Actuator Sound' technology produces vivid sound directly from the screen without separate speakers.
